    yes,getting rid of diodes is a good thing,you probably have to manage the level entering that grid.
    Its not weird not having a cathode follower,think about Engl,Splawn,Roccaforte,Cornford,and many more designs that are very good.

      Good point; Splawn amps sound amazing, but are a bit on the buzzy side. I'll check these other amps you mentioned.
