help with my peavey 5150 II

i just got my first tube head, a peavey 5150 II, and it doesn't work.

i turned on the power and let it warm up for about 1-2 minutes and when i went to turn on the standby and play...my standby doesn't work. the light won't come on and i'm not getting any sound. i just put 4 brand new GT6L6GE tubes; 2 BCE's and 2 CCE's. i don't know if there is a specific order they go in. i'm kinda stumped on what it is. i checked the preamp tubes, 12AX7A's, and 2 of them sound like broken light bulbs when i shake them gently. i don't know if that means i need to replace them or what. again, this is my first tube head; i'm new to this.

please please help me. i really don't wanna pay for any repairs but if i must i guess i will.

Tubes should not rattle when shaken - replace them. If the green light by the standby doesn't come on, then there is no high voltage inside the amp. Most likely a blown high voltage fuse. And the number one reason for a blown high voltage fuse is shorted power tubes. You have just replaced the power tubes, but who knows what the old tubes did to the amp. Maybe nothing more than blowing the fuse.

If you have two pairs of tubes, A and B pairs we'll call them, then in the sockets they are best installed ABBA, or of course BAAB. But it doesn't matter at all what order they are in in terms of making sound. The amp will work with them in there any way you like.

The fuses are inside the amp - the chassis has to come out.

The voltages the amp runs on inside can KILL YOU. ALWAYS work in there with the amp unplugged from the wall, and wait 15 minutes before touching anything.

the power tubes are actually fine. it was the preamp tubes that rattled. i'll check out the fuse and if that doesn't fix it then i guess i'll call peavey or something. idk.

New power tubes and a fuse if a blown fuse is the problem. There are 5 fuses inside the amp as well as the fuse on the back.
