  • Volume problem in Blues Jr.

I performed two of Mill M's mods...tone stack and Twin and now I have almost no volume. The Tone stack is simply replacing two caps and the Twin mod is placing a jumper across the left and middle of the Middle switch. Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thank you

Are you sure you did the Twin Mod (where did you hear of this mod and who is Mill M) correctly? If I read your post right and am looking ath the schematic right, you are shorting most of you signal to ground regardless of the Mid and Bass settings.

I stand to be corrected but, remove that jumper and see what happens.

I think I found the mod. Is it this one http://home.comcast.net/~machrone/bjr/twinstack.htm?

I was seeing the typical Fender layout in my mind, and forgot that the pots are oriented with their tabs on the bottom on the BJr. Try removing the jumper or at least checking that it is not shorting to the case as he indicated in his notes.

Whatever you work on, if it is functioning before you work on it, and afterwards it is not, then something you did was the cause. Either your mod was not done correctly, or you globbed some solder where it didn't belong, or in the process you knocked a wire off something else, and so on.
Education is what you're left with after you have forgotten what you have learned.
