  • Schematic for a Carlton FT50

    Hello all,

I have a Carlton FT50 Guitar Amp from 1996. The Scottish company has no further support because they've gone. Because my amp only works on the clean channel, until the amp is heated up, then the signal is changing from bright to flannelly. The crunch and distortion channel produces lots of noise. Impossible to use. The reverb does not work as well.

Has anyone a schematic of this amp or any hints ?
    Thanks in advance
    Best Regards
    Manuel

    Ahaa thats the Haggis Factor...
I had a 100w one a weird one to say the least!
It had a traditional Marshall output stage in fact the transformers
were genuine Marshall parts.... (shades of early Mesa with Fender
transformers) faults there were mainly open circuit tracks.
The pre-amp was a real doozy (yes we used to get that trashy US
B+W sitcom can't remember the name but Hazel was the cook-
and central charecter in the family but I digress) it had pcb boards
with I.C's mounted onto an octal (valve) plug with the whole thing
dipped in clear epoxy to resemble a valve complete with a LED in the base
to make it light up like a valve.
(What do they put in a Haggis...?...no better not answer that..! )
I tried also to obtain a schematic .. to no avail.
However the preamp faults were mainly dirty pots (not very good quality)
and a faulty multipin header or cable which I replaced.
It was a real pig of a thing to pull apart.
It's just a matter of logically working through it.

Set a stout hert ti a stey brae

    Good luck
