Glad you confirmed the +/- 16V supplies were stable during the relay chatter. I just repaired a HR Deluxe 112 where U3 had failed (TP34 readings confirmed that), and after replacing that part, I suddenly found 42VDC instead of 16V at one of the TP34 conditions. The 16V Zener was now sitting with one end no longer in the solder pad, and both ends were oxidized form long-term heating. Part was still good, cleaned up fine. Resoldered it, back in, repaired solder fractures on teh 5W resistor associated with it, and replaced the other IC's that got subjected to that high voltage, just to be on the safe side.
Waiting to hear the outcome on this one.
