Tektronix CFG250 as signal generator?

Hi everybody.

I'm getting equipped to work on guitar tube amps. I know I require an audio signal generator, but I have been offered a Tektronix CFG250 Function Generator. Would that unit be good enough to work with guitar tube amps? For testing and diagnosing purposes? I have read that it's better to get an audio signal generator, but right now I'm on a tight budget and the price for the tektronix is very good.

Yes, that will work fine. Function generators may have .5% distortion but that is irrelevant when working on guitar amps.
