  • Rcf sub repair

I have a RCF (made in Italy) 8001AS powered subwoofer that has an amp problem. It starts to power up with the lights coming on and the fan starts but quickly the fan shuts off and the status light begins blinking. It goes no further. I don't think there is a schematic available. I need some help in diagnosing.

On pg 3 of the owners manual Table A, it describes a flashing yellow status light as a "amplifier high temp" fault. But that is with the green power light on which is not the case here. And on pg 5 it talks about "short circuit protection" causing a flashing yellow status light. But I have checked the DCR thru the wires to the speaker measuring 3 ohms. I think it is normal. The manual is too large to upload.

First guess would be shorted outputs causing it to go into protect. Have you checked them for shorts?

I know this is an old thread, but I just solved the same problem, so maybe it will help someone. IC NE5532 should be changed under the processor board and everything works normally. By the way, when it's working, it's a good idea to replace the potentiometer with a new one, the original one is some plastic junk and can break. It is also good to change C3 and C9. I hope it will be useful to someone.
