  • Clarification on schematic

I'm working on a westbury model 550 and the pushpull vol switch is broken the push pull part.

Looking at the schematic I am pretty sure it is a A1meg I will measure the actual part , just want to be sure of my reading the schematic.

    Thanks,
    Jason

Ok now the hard part I'd like to replace it with a similar sized one if possible. It's a 1MA push/pull That solders onto the PCB. I'm seeing 7mm and 16mm sizes What is this referencing?

      Thanks,
      JAson

Diameter. 16mm is the round kind like Marshall used for years. 24mm is the "full sized" type like Fender used for years. 7mm is a tiny pot, slightly over 1/4", would be a trimmer. 16mm is a super common size.

ok so where might I find a 24mm A1M pushpull pot?
It looks like this one but this one is 16mm http://www.retroamplis.com/Alpha-16mm-Push-Pull-PCB/en

          Thanks,

I think I have a broken 16mm one. I'm gonna try a dry fit on it and see how it fits.

Here's one, but it doesn't have lugs for soldering directly into a PCB. Maybe a little trimming will get you there, or add some wires.

Looking at the schematic I'd think spst but looking at the pot I'd think dpdt. I'll need to look at the pcb and the old pot again tomorrow.

I only see the switch for the bright cap, but maybe there's something else?

Oops! I think that switch I linked is NOT a push pull. More likely a turn type- as in power/volume. It won't work for your application. Sorry for the goose chase! I edited the post so somebody isn't steered the wrong way in the future.

Ok here's why we have junk boxes. I took a switch off the back end of a 16mm and popped it onto the 24mm. Problem solved. Sure was difficult. I had to actually take switch apart because the legs were not long as the originals. They are not fun to put back together.
