    I know that musical signals are different than an AC line or whatever, but have always been surprised, especially on high power amps, that they would even have 1/4" speakers outs with the "hot 2" shield. Seems like from a safety/liability perspective they would just say if it is bridged it is a Speakon connector. I think the SVT 4 Pro amp does this.

      No shields on Speaker wires buy yes, if you use a metallic 1/4" plug , touching its cover/body means touching a HOT speaker signal.

      In principle you should NOT plug/unplug speaker cables while amp is ON, even less if you are grabbing your Bass with the other hand.
