Hi. Any chance of looking up your old records and trace the owner of that amp?
Maybe he still has it somewhere in the loft?

    Cheers

I know it has been several years and my two Dallas Rangemaster amps have taken a low priority because of family, teaching and guitar rebuilds! BUT I will get back to completing my study of them. What I did find was that Jim Marshall actually used this circuit for his Popular Marshall, an early low wattage all tube amp. I checked his circuit and can see the same valves and very similar circuit layout and design. I think the Marshall was only made for year or two and is probably just as rare as the Dallas Rangemaster.

The Marshall circuit can be seen here: http://marstran.com/1930.gif

By the way just to confirm the output valves are Mullard ECL86s. I have purchase some ECL86 NOS in old boxes so yes they are available for the amp. I need to finally check the circuit but it is very much the Marshall Popular amp. Interesting to see that the Dallas Rangemaster was marketed as the "Popular" (one was given away a few years back .. here: Shaftesbury Dallas Rangemaster 1960s Amplifier For Repair For Sale in Dundrum, Dublin from bfc and you can see an old advert for one here :Dallas Rangemaster Popular Model 526 Amplifier showing it clearly being called the Popular, notice also the same valves are listed as in the Marshall Popular.

Here is the Dallas Shaftesbury Rangemaster amp that is identical to my two amps. Mike Goodall's Dallas Rangemaster Amplifier
