  • Marshall parts prices

While looking up the part number for the Celestion G12M for a 1974X - the "hand wired" 18 watter - I noted with awe that they show list price for the power transformer as $230. !!!!! Yipes.

That was more than the already silly $200 they want for the speaker. Lucky for me the dealer cost on the speaker is $111. Luckier still it is a warranty and I don't care what they charge.

You can get the Mercury Magnetics replacement PT for about the same price, and it won't blow up like the Dagnall does. It it was out of warranty, that's the one I would buy instead. And yeah, Marshall charges top dollar for their stuff. I always try to find other sources for their parts.

Ouch! I assume that's a US thing. I bought some filter caps and a load of cabinet parts from Marshall UK recently, and the prices were extremely reasonable. Only thing is that you have to be able to prove you are qualified to work on tube amps before they'll let you buy "internal" amp parts.

I think that's because the US dollar has been devalued to the lowest point in US history thanks to our wonderful president's economic policies. So, expect the prices of anything coming from the EU to continue to skyrocket.

Much as I might want to agree, and as much as I would prefer to leave politics for elsewhere, I think this list price has been on the books a while.

Yes, I could look for alternatives, but doing warranty repairs precludes that. Besides, his powr tranny if fine, he just has a bum speaker.

From the same source, Korg USA, the entire touch screen assemby for the Korg Triton keyboard lists for only $217.

Aren't all Marshall parts in the US through Parts-Is-Parts? I think a 5201 IC is like $9!!!!! TSL 100 output tranny is $170.

That is for consumers. Korg USA is the US distributor for Marshall and Vox. They are the source for Marshall parts for dealers and service centers. I could buy them elsewhere and pay more. I don't pay $230, that is list. My cost would be half that. Nor would I charge list for a big ticket item like that. But I found it amazing they even ask that high a price for a PT.

The M5201 has a list price of $5, dealer cost of $2.50. P is P is really hosing you then. Unless that includes shipping or something. Your local Marshall dealer might be able to beat that P is P price.
