  • Blues Deville Input Jack Replacement

An older blues Deville came in with a totally demolished Input jack. I was wondering if anyone has replaced these with switchcrafts. I can’t seem to find a data sheet for the original jacks. Is it possible? If not I will just order another but I have some nice TRS and TS switchcrafts in the shop. Here’s a schematic for the amp: https://www.thetubestore.com/lib/the...-Schematic.pdf

I feel kinda silly posting this but I just can’t figure it out! It’s the 4 tab Input jack for clarification

    $1.99 on this page.

Or, if you want to use a chassis mount switchcraft, just solder wires to the appropriate pads.

Edit: You should be able to use a DVM to figure out what pins are what on the old jack. If it's so demolished you can't, use the input jack right next to it for testing. Just plug a 1/4" plug into the jack and test continuity to solder pins. Extra pins will be for switching.

Uncanny! Exact same thread title. As a mod my flags went up for a dual SN,.. But I don't figure that's the case. Anyway, check it out.

Well, I finally did something really dumb! As I was testing the Jack I installed, the clamp from the helping hands I have failed and the center tap of the OT was shorted to ground by making contact with the metal standoff. Stupid mistake on my part but I was lucky not to be touching the chassis at that moment. There is now no output, none of the preamp tubes are lighting. The negative leg of C34 is blackened, primary and secondary of OT have continuity. Omg, first time this has happened, and just when I was looking forward to getting this amp out of here

Then this happened... I’m convinced this amp is cursed. https://ibb.co/tLsHwnS

I often have to restore the connections on those screen resistors below the board and they will tend to damage the solder pads, so you have to recreate the circuit with the component leads. This one you showed is enough to invoke cursing! Their PCB's used on this Hot Rod & Blues Series amps are not good quality boards!

I went so far as to create (with talented help) a replacement PCB for these Fender models that turns it into an overdrive special:

Hey............that's nice!! These amps, being relatively affordable used & trashed, do beg for something more sensible like what you've created there.

I thought so too. But now I can’t find any broken ones!

A PCB or a Fender amp? I have PCBs to sell, if you're interested, along with schematic and BOM. PM me.
