I am not computer savvy, my files are already in pdf format. This will still shrink them?

I am a tired old guy, I prefer to hit REPLY and ATTACHMENT.

This is a nice program to 'knock down' large files.(if they are not copy protected)
It sets up as a printer.
Print, choose Cute, bang, instant pdf file.

Yes Cute PDF will 'shrink' pdf files.
It gets installed in the printer dialog box.
When you select Cute as the 'printer' that is when it 'prints' the file to a pdf.
Sometimes just printing them will shrink them.
If not, you have the option of 'printing' a group of pages.
Say, 1-7 & 8-12.
I use it to convert jpg & bmp to pdf.
To me, it makes it much easier to zoom & navigate a schematic.

What proof do you have that Acro Software pushes malware?
This is a very respected software firm.
So you just felt the need to drag there name through the mud.

The reason people put "free" stuff on the internet, is to get you to click on it.
Then, the fun begins.
You have no idea what is being installed, into your system.

Maybe it's legitimate, maybe it's not.
