As I moved this Fender Deluxe Reverb to the test bench, after having opened up the chassis far enough to remove the wires to the fuse post, remove it and install a pair of small ITL washers and put it back in.....having found EVERY recent Fender amp's Fuse Post is loose from the factory, I put it back together. This amp came in for 'frying sounds' out of the Normal Channel. Connected the audio analyzer/scope input to the ext speaker output, while the internal speaker is still connected. Turned the power on, only didn't see any heater glow. But, with no power, tapping on the amp cabinet I'm getting transient noises on the scope. Huh?
Turned the fuse holder into its' socket to engage the fuse, now I get heater glow. While it's warming up, still noticing the transients on the scope, this time while tapping on the power tubes while it's in Standby...AH.......dummy! Did you forget how intercoms work? That speaker generates output to your tapping on the cabinet! Duh!!!
