Hello everyone
I have been trying to restore an old Ampeg R-12-R with only partial success.
The problem left is excessive hum. The hum is present with or without guitar connected, and regardless of the volume control position. If the vibrato is turned up, that modulates the hum. The hum disappears if I take out the phase inverter tube, but not if I take out the other preamp tubes.
The amp has had a major refurbish. Power transformer replaced, all tubes replaced, all capacitors replaced. It's a real shame because I invested a lot of time and money into it, but the hum is still a major concern.
I would really appreciate if someone might have a suggestion on what to check, or if there is anything specific I should try out.
Thanks in advance
