  • Vintage Fender Bassman Ten......Little Output problem

I recently acquired a 1970's Bassman Ten to use for a Fender Rhodes....But the amp isn't working properly..The seller said in the auction that it was working fine. When it arrived it had very very little output. Had the amp turned up all the way...and it was dead quiet. I could hear my picking but it was very faint. I tried all the channels and it was the same thing. I tried different tubes, and it was the same thing. I didn't get to try "New" tubes but I tried tubes that I knew worked for sure, and got nothing. If anyone could help me with this it would be greatly appreciated. Someone told me it might be bad Capacitors, or some kind of resistor failure. But Would like to hear a little more on the situation. Thanks.

Have you confirmed that the speakers work? Try some external speakers. Also make sure that the speaker wires are not shorted.

Do you have electronics experience? Can you open up the amp and measure teh voltages?

    Let us know.

Make sure the speakers are actually plugged into the jack closest to the power tubes.

You beat me to it, my first thought was also that the speakers were plugged into the wrong jack.
