I have a VK 100W Head here. I’ve already checked all of the tubes, but when I first turn it on sound is weak on channel 1, channel 2 will hardly pass any sound. After it is left on for a bit channel 1 comes in strong like it should, channel 2 takes a little longer and gradually will come in. My thoughts and question is could it be filter caps? I can hear some light popping and scratchy sounds until it “warms” up. No bulging or swelling on the caps, but could the Caps be internally weak? Lots of rust in amp and looks like something has been spilled. Definitely has been sitting and a cold damp environment.

Clean your connections, especially the loop jack cutout contacts. Also try plugging a cord from FX send to FX return just to see.
One of the JFETs could be failing.Education is what you're left with after you have forgotten what you have learned.

No change with the fx loop jumped
Checked all the caps and resistors on the power amp board, it all checked out. I forgot to mention I found a dead resistor going to V2 on the preamp board, lead channel had no volume when I first tore into this thing. After it sits for 10 mins the amp sounds great..when you power amp off before it warms up, volume spikes briefly also.
