Careful, the ones at Mouser and the other place are not photoresistors, they have phototransistors as outputs.

While we know in advance Mesa would tag a large handling fee and shpg fee on the parts, they no doubt DO have the part in their inventory. Have you contacted them, just for fun, to see what the damage is? I forget who I had last bought VacTec parts from. They were starting to become scarce in the early 2000's.

You could try contacting Stretch at Valley Sound Music Technologies in Burbank, CA on Cahuenga Blvd. Not sure what his status is due to the pandemic, but I'm sure he has a variety of VacTec's on hand, having been doing backline gear repairs for decades.

Well, I recently asked Mesa for it and got a message from Mesa Germany, that original Vactec VTL5C9s are no longer available from Mesa Intl./USA.
The Banzai, eekpray etc. VTL5C9 types seem to be all the same chinese copies with a great garden variety of specs, so you must buy 5 or 10 to select one that works properly. Zouto my amp did not switch between channel. My tech found both 10k uf leaking and many 39 ohms bad due to faulty Vactrols.

Note that the proposed subs like the OPTEK OPI110 have a transistor output, 30V max. Not tube-amp-friendly!

Not for the Mesa, but they are cheap. $2.36 for one at DigiKey.
