    SCORE 1 To my American friends......tube from Blues Deluxe installed and Champ behaving as it should......yup, it was the power tube alright....

      The correct mains fuse is a F1A as indicated on the schematic. Leaving a 2A one in there poses a fire risk.
      Experience is something you get, just after you really needed it.

        +1 to Nick's post and...

        Glad that the 6L6 proved the circuit and things are working. Get a proper 6V6 in there. You're lucky (or not due to all the secondary fusing !?!) that you only need to replace the power tube. Understand that parts have been stressed though. Go ahead and plug in a new 6V6 and enjoy it as long as it's working properly then.
