  • Rewinding of shorted transformer: yes or no?

I have three (3!) power transformers (late 70's Fender Deluxe and Vibrolux) that are shorted or incorrectly wound (I started two or three threads here a few months back). Thus I should trash them and buy new ones.
Is there any drawback in having them rewound by a specialized tech, other than economic convenience?
Once I had a Silvertone 1482 power tranny rewound, and it resulted a perfectly working tranny. In that case it was not easy to find a drop-in replacement, while for a Fender amp this is an easy task.
I was just wondering if, after evaluating the economic issues, there is any potential problem in a rewound tranny.

If its done right by a competent tech,I would think the only concern would be economic.

This guy has nothing to do with musical transformers... he just builds transformers, so he can rebuild a winding if I tell him that for instance a secondary has to put out 400 VAC.
