It's in the amp, and it does work, except that it doesn't turn down all the way. It does make a difference in volume--just doesn't turn down quiet. It's no big deal because I have a gain on the pre-amp going into that channel.

Maybe it broke somehow when it was dropped in the snow.

A lot of cheap pots do that, and SLM is not using expensive pots. On the other hand, how often do you run the amp at zero volume? I doubt the part was damaged, and wouldn't be surprise if all of them in the drawer are like that.

Now we are talking about a small volume. If the thing hardly turns down at all, that is different, then something is open, like a ground trace or a resistor.

Something else might be messed up, like you say, because its range is not very much. I'm suspecting it might be something that I did--maybe even too much solder, and it's touching. I also blew a fuse a long time ago when I was testing it plugged in.
I'll probably check it out when I have some spare time to play with it.

Actually, it's not a problem, because I always have something plugged in that has its own volume control.

          Fixed!

It was just one of the solder spots that broke free--probably didn't get it hot enough--too cautious.

Hello, I'm looking for one of those Crate 70-133-01 Potentiometers if you still have one. I found this site but the the exchange I'm talking about was in the latter part of 2007 and early part of 2008 with the company contact Menzo (tmenzo@msn.com)
            Thanks,
            Steve (stevenasexton234@gmail.com)

This is a public forum, so I'd remove the email addresses from your post, unless you like spam. If someone can help, they can post here and continue via PM's.

The emails aren’t just in the post section… well one of them is the user ID. Perhaps the use of email as the user name should not be allowed?

edit: I thought that other email looked familiar. That was Enzo’s email.
