  • Software For Drawing Schematics

Just curious as to what different programs all of those who make schematics are using. Looking to get into that myself, and just curious as to whats useful and not.

Why don't you use the search feature here on the web site, we have discussed this before, and in fact pretty recently.

I am old school, the program here is me holding a pen over some paper.
Education is what you're left with after you have forgotten what you have learned.

I've been using KiCAD on windows for a few months, and it's pretty good (and free).
It doesn't quite work on the mac yet.

Cutting and pasting in MSPaint is a pretty easy and easily accessible way to draw schematics. All the schematics linked from
        http://www.tigergagan.com/amps.php
        were done that way.

Kicad is the best you can get with no money and no limitation.
I've used Protel DXP before it, and as far as my work goes, which is designing and producing the PCBs, straightforward (no simulation, no tricky things) its very cool, in one week you will be able to do almost everithing you need, even export Gerber files to a PCB produciton company.

            Say,
Where do you find the components drawn to cut & paste from to Paint? glen

You can copy/cut from any jpg, gif, or bmp schematic to paste to Paint. Any of the schematics linked from the amp page at my site might work as a starting point:

Ahh, gotcha....I'd have to think it would be difficult to line up all the components with each other. I'll have to give that a try.

I couldn't find where at KiCad on that page that I could just download the program...just a bunch of files with weird tags...what am I missing....thanx, glen
