Amp cutting out?

I have an atomic reactor 50w amp

and since I got it, invariably after about 10-15 min of playing (not really all that loudly either) sometimes less, the volume will just fade off to nothing, sometimes it takes 10 sec, sometimes its much quicker. I've also heard it start to hum real bad sometimes instead, also with no warning.

I hope this isn't a real noob question, but I cant seem to find any references to this problem online.

It's been suggested that the power to my house could be causing problems due to the relative simplicity of the amp, but I want to check all options before I drop 500$ or more on a decent power conditioner.

There are basically a power amp and speakers, aren't they? Someone once brought in a smaller one and I put a MV on it for him, I think.

Wouldn'd have thought the house power is a likely explanation at all.

As a first step, try plugging a spare lead in and out of the effects loop jacks, or from one to the other, see if you can make the problem come and go that way.
