  • Musicman 115 tune up?

Hello, I'm a newbie ! ..... my musicman 115 (65W) just doesn't seem to sound as crisp and clear as it used too. Most notably is there is very little bottom end coming through. It's very tinny. I have the bass knob cranked to 11!

My question is what can I expect if I just replace the tubes(3)? Would this make a marked improvment? I've heard of replacing the capacitors (the 4 large ones). What effect would this have if any?

I don't know the model year of the amp, but would guess late 70's, early 80's.

Just looking for some expert opinions before I venture any further.

    Regards,

    Kurt

Somewhere on the back of the amp you should be able to find a model/chassis number. Look at the link below and try to find a schematic.

WARNING! Musical Instrument amplifiers contain lethal voltages and can retain them even when unplugged. Refer service to qualified personnel.
REMEMBER: Everybody knows that smokin' ain't allowed in school !

New tubes can make all the difference in the world. Not saying it's your problem but a good place to start.
