i have a fender twin that's producing some noise... sometimes the hum grows louder and will become pretty prominent... turning the volume doesn't affect the level of the hum... also when i tap on the amp it does a loud static noise and it happens when i switch to low power or turn the standby switch off... i've been doing some tube swapping but it doesn't seem to improve either of these problems... what is my culprit? i can't seem to find it.... help...

Pull the chassis, and make sure ALL the mounting hardware for the transformers is tight. Loose mounting nuts make noise.
MAke sure all the nuts are tight on the controls across the front.
Check all the ground wires coming from the part board soldered to chassis.Education is what you're left with after you have forgotten what you have learned.
