  • Help!! TSL 100 Head - no reverb or presence!

As above, just purchased a 2nd hand TSL Head, all works fine exept for the reverb and presence, turning the dials in clean crunch or lead has no effect..all the valves are glowing so they are ok.. has anyone else had this problem and what can i do to correct it?

    Any help much appreciated!!!

    Aidan.

Your reverb problem may be in the tray itself. As far as the presence there isn't much of an audible change except in the upper mids and highs. At a low volume listen closely to the speaker as you turn the presence up and down to see if you can hear an increase in the upper range.
If your familiar with an ohm meter you can check the reverb tray in and outs for continuity.

Lesson #1: when you see the heaters glowing inside the tubes, it tells you one thing, and one thing only, and that is that the heaters work. it tells you nothing about whether the tube functions, whether it has voltage to it. Never assume a tube is OK be cause the heater works. MOST bad tubes have working heaters.

I suspect tubes are not the issue here though.
Education is what you're left with after you have forgotten what you have learned.

Thanks for the help guys, but where is the 'tray' and is it difficult to change?
Sorry to sound a bit dumb!

Typically it's a long rectangular metal box bolted to the inside of the amp cabinet and it will have two RCA cables plugged into it. It will have two or three springs inside. It's best to mark the cables before you unplug them and you will probably have to remove the amp chassis to get to it.
