  • Ampeg Jet LDR Replacement

I've working on an Ampeg Jet J-12 that is missing it's LDR, thus the tremelo does not work. The schematic calls out a CL1110-M, which I am unable to find anywhere. I'm guessing that I could use the Fender style LDR that Antique Electronics sells. Or would the VTL5C8 that Allied sells work better? It's cheaper. Has anyone tried the Surfbug from tonecraftamprepair.com? Does it make that big of a difference?

Assuming that the CL1110-M is a neon-bulb unit, as shown, the fender trem bug should work just fine. Antique, tedweber.com and many other outlets sell replacements.

Before you order, though, you might want to get out your meter and watch the voltage swing at the node where the bug connects, under control of the speed knob - if it doesn't
do anything, you still have some debug to do, but you can get that done while you wait for your new bug to arrive.

    Hope this helps!
