  • Help Fix Marshall Valvestate 10 Volume

I have a valvestate 8010 (Built in 1991) and for the use i give it suits me fine but with a little big problem, when i turn the amp on it gives me no sound until i put it with full master volume and full gain, then i hit my strings a few times and it SCREAMS , then it runs fine until i turn it off and on again, this is very disturbing because i'm waking up the hole family and some neighbours when i do it at night. If i do this with the headphones i fear losing my ears

Anyone had this same problem or can give me a clue for what shoud i do

I know the right thing to do would be throw it in the garbage and buy a fender but no money no fun

Thanks all for your attention !!!

Welcome, do we have any other members from Portugal or are you the first? How would you know that?

Without blowing your ears, does it act that way one headphones too?

When you power up and it makes no sound, try this. Ball up your fist and whack the top of the amp. Does that have any effect? We are testing for loose connections that way.

Does the amp have a model number on it like 8100 or something starting with 8?

Check the solder under all the jacks, and also under any large power resistors. Try poking a plug into the effects return jack to see if that wakes it up.
Education is what you're left with after you have forgotten what you have learned.

      Answer: YES

Answer: I've done this a couple of times but no luck, this only works when very ocasionaly i am playing and it goes mute.

Answer: Yes, It's a 8010. (the little brother but not the pocket one hehe)

Answer: i've opened the amp and every component seems like new, impressive for the age of it. I couldn't find anything loose so i've sprayed the volume and gain knobs with REDEX Lub, this smoothen them but did not solve the problem.

If this amp has the cheap china made speaker I would try a different speaker.

Does it on headphones. Sorta points away from the speaker.
