fender twin reissue dead no power

Hi guys

I have brand new twin in here that is totally dead
I checked all the fuses and even the power
switch, I am afraid it may be the power transformer
ugh..
I even tried taking off the connectors for some of the
secondaries the HV (RED) and the (brown) leads
which I assume may be low voltage or bias..
the heater fuse is good I even checked the pilot lamp....

I was hoping for something of the dumb stuff to be bad..

its a shame they made this amp they way they
did I mean its halfway to the real deal

just the printed circuit boards are in the way of making
into a real twin

I guess I would have to order the correct one (power trans)
from fender with all the nice crimped leads..
?

I have a twin replacement here from new sensor but
I am not about to hack it in there...
still seems like a nice amp
perhaps a board kit and a few hours and
a power trans and well a whole bunch of pots.. nah!

If it's new, then why not have Fender repair it?

Have you taken a resistance reading of the transformer's primary winding? If the amp is totally dead, then most likely the problem will be in the primary circuit, as it would be really unusual for multiple secondaries to fail.

Put your ohmmeter on the hot and neutral blades of the ac wall plug. Turn the power switch on and see if you get a reading.

Test the ac cord for continuity, try flexing the ac cord at the plug and at the chassis strain relief.

Double check the ac switch and the wiring to and from the circuit board. All of those crimp on connectors should be checked. It's rare, but one could have failed.

Nothing wrong with circuit boards, you get a more consistent product for one thing.

Far more likey the inrush limiter is bad than the power transformer.

And what Bill said, the amp comes new with a 5 year warranty - that is what warranties are for. WHy void that by throwing new parts into the thing?
