Hi all,
Please help.
I just replaced the original (1995) chinese pre-amp and power-amp tubes as I had lost power and the volume controls for both channels were ineffective. I replaced with JJ Electronics (these were old too as I bought these back in 1999). As soon as I powered up the new tubes I noticed a soft crackling in both channels and now have to turn it up 20% higher to achieve the same volume. I then tried swapping out pre & pow tubes in attempt to isolate a faulty new tube and now I get very loud popping with a constant very loud rumble and have to turn the amp off immediately.
All the new tubes seem to look fine. The only thing that I have noticed is the left power tube fits a little loose in it's socket. Also, (not sure if relevent) this amp has gone for long periods of not being used.
Any input would be appreciated - Thanks in advance.
