Im trying to put in a jcm 800 preamp into my amp, and ive done everything except the tone stack which i have bypassed for now. However, with the gain control, my volume drops all the way out when i go past half way. I experimented with adjusting the cap across one leg and the wiper, but still the same result. What sorts of things cause this?

did you try to bypass the gain control? what happends then?
did you put a single cap instead the tone stack? its essential for proper work -
Bypassing the gain gave me a strong signal. Believe me, I have gone part to part, inserting the signal everywhere checking everything, but when i put the gain control in with all else fine it acts up on me.Comment
