  • Quick question - JCM900 sl-x

    What cheer all,

I have a Marshall amp on the bench that has been repaired before.

One of the EL34 2nd grid resistors (1k 5W) has been changed out for two 470Rs in series = 940 ohms.

The question is whether it's worth me changing this back - I'd have to order the 1k 5W as I ain't got one.

Would it affect the matching of the output tubes?

    Cheers,

    S.

Well, the 940 value is within 6% of the 1K value. So electronically speaking if the wattage rating is ok, then it would be no different than if it was a 1k5w resistor that was well within a 10% tolerance in value.

But the perfectionist/technician in me, would want to change the part for the right one.

      Thanks Bill.

Yes I want to change it too but time constraints are probably going to leave that for another day unfortunately.

So much is left unfinished eh?
