  • Mesa Triaxis Memory Loss

    Hi,

got a Mesa Triaxis on the bench that works fine but loses memory after power down.
I guess there is some kind of backup battery in there, but can't find it. I don't want to pull those $%&§ stacked boards if I can avoid it.

    Any hints where to look?

    Thanks in advance,
    Albert

    Its a 3v 2032 connected to Pin 28 of IC10 via diode D2.

Thank you, that helps a little. Now at least I know what to look for.
The problem is, I know what a 2032 looks like and I can't find it. Must be hidden somewhere under the boards.
Does anybody know which board or cover I have to remove?

      Thanks,
      Albert

I did pull one apart ages ago but cant remember enough.
I did find a picture via google images so lets play spot the battery..!
Seriously logic tells me it won't be near the valves so from this picture
I would guess it is front right under the board with the IC's.
On the other hand seeing how difficult Mesa's are to dismantle applying
Murphys law undo the most difficult one you can find first or better still
phone Mesa and ask them. I have phoned them from Aust ..only cost a couple of bucks and they are most helpful gentlemanly folk !
Mind you I had to get up at 5am....!
See if this jogs someones memory

          Exactly my thought

Phoning them might be expensive since I am in Europe, but I'll give that board w/the many ICs a try.

          Thanks again,
          Albert

PS: If anyone else can tell me where to look, feel free to do so

Look for the board with the BIG chips toward the front of the box. I'm betting you're right about the location.

              Update:

The 2032 cell is under the metal hood. To remove the hood, you have to pull the board with the big ICs first. So we were thinking in the right direction

oc & Don: Thanks for your help!
