  • Magnatone 460 output impedance

Referring to the above link- should the two 8 ohm speakers be wired in series or parallel? It isn't really specific.

I will say that the amp sounds pretty pathetic into an 8 ohm marshall cabinet. Any reason why it sounds so pathetic? Is this normal for these things? The vibrato sounds kinda cool but it definately doesn't make up for the otherwise lackluster sound.

Well no way to tell by the schemo...more a function of the output xformer which is unmarked.
you could just try it with an 8ohm load. even if it is a 4ohm, it would sound ok with an 8ohm speaker.
has this amp ever had new caps & such? Have you changed any tubes ieower tubes or subbed pre-tubes? I know that's difficult to do with the 6EU7's in there. You might just have tube issues.

Also, most of these Maggies were designed to drive one or 2 speakers. A Marshall 4 x 12 might be a bit much.

There is a forum dedicated to the love of the old Maggies. you'll definitely find someone there that will just know. I'd say there is another issue causing your low output, tho. Possibly a shorted cathode bypass cap on the 6L6's?
