I own a peavey classic 50 410, it is a great amp but it has started this problem of popping and crackeling after it has been turned on for about 10 seconds (first started after about 30 min. and got worse). when it starts you can smell burning wires, i replaced the tubes and it still does the same thing. If anyone has any ideas what the problem might be i would appreciate your response.
    Thanks

Call Peavey and request a copy of the schematic. They will usually email it out in a day or two.

From your description of the problem, I'd check the power supply for damaged, overheating resistors.

Do the volume or tone controls have any effect on the noise? If they do, then it will lead the search in one direction, if they don't then, it will lead the search in another area.

Make sure to check all resistors for crackes or leakage if they are carbon composit resitors. Check the filter caps for leakage and bulging on the the tops or ends . Did you change all of the preamp & poweramp tubes ? How old is the amp?

Here's a link to the schematic:

I never did get a layout drawing for that model- if someone digs it up maybe they can post it here or email it to me so I can add it to my site.

i looked at all the caps and resistors did not see any buldging or leakage, i also looked at the pc boards and could not see any burnt spots. i got the schm. from that link so i was going to turn the amp on and see what was getting hot but it blew the 3 amp fuse in the back, it is fuse f1 on the schm. i can read a schm. somewhat but i cant tell exactly what this fuse controls. it looks like it maybe the power fuse, if so could this mean a bad transformer?
