during practice the other day, my amp randomly turned off , there was a distinct smell when it happened therefore I'm assuming a fuse blew out.

When something burns, there usually is an odor produced. A blown fuse will not make an odor. First look to see if there are any signs of burned resistors, etc. If there are burned components, there will be more than a simple fuse replacement needed.

The fuse that you remove will be marked with a rating and type on one of it's end caps. Replace it with the same rating in amps and the same type, either fast or slow blow.

      Bill is right.

The fuses depend on your mains voltage. In the USA and anywhere the amp rins on 120 volts, the fuse is T8A (8 amp slow blow) Elsewhere inthe world where amps run on 240 volts the mains fuse is T4A (4 amp slow blow)
