  • SPDT channel switch pops

I got an extra tube stage that Im trying to switch in and out, but my relay pops when when switched. Each position works fine, just the instant pop. How can I rid of this?

    1) make sure there is a coupling cap between your relay and the previous stage
    2) give each switched terminal (NO and NC) a DC path to GND - a 2.2M resistor should be enough of a path.
    3) add a reverse-biased diode (cathode to relay coil's + terminal) across your relay's coil to keep the flyback current trapped in the coil circuit so it doesn't couple into your signal terminals - you can also use a capacitor for this, say 0.1uF.

    Hope this helps!
