  • blues deluxe problem

I have an old blues deluxe (93?).It has the same symptoms described in the "blues deluxe channel limbo" posting 6/27/07.That was quite helpful in starting to locate the problem (channel switch lamp goes off and on and volume will cut in and out).Gone through the R85 and 86 info as well as the r71 change as well as repairing some solder connections.HOWEVER -I am still experiencing the same symptoms when I try to drive the amp at a high volume.Would appreciate some feedback as to where to go after the r 85-86
and r 71 point.I really love the tone of the amp and would like to get it to a "reliable" stage. Thanks for help!!

When you did the R85/R86 thing, what exactly did you do? Replace with same value, higher-wattage? Higher value (as some suggest), higher-wattage? Just stick 'em down better?

I know it's not really safe to do, but is it any more reliable with the back open (or chassis out of the cab, whichever is appropriate)?

You may be stuck fluxing and reflowing every joint in the amp. Try to get some 'no-clean' flux, 'cause flux cleaner is a nasty chlorinated hydrocarbon (at least the stuff I know about)

    Hope this helps!
