  • Problems With Ampeg Svt2 Pro

    Hi I'm an idiot.
I have problems with my SVT 2 PRO.
I have had it for 2 and a half years now and only today has it stopped working.
I was at band practice and it stopped after 15 mins of playing, completely cut out. I tried changing the fuse as i have never changed it before and it started working only to stop again after 15 mins.
I have never changed the tubes in the amp even though i have played it regularly, sorry i'm am a terrible person!
Can anyone shed light into why this has happened, or suggest the best tubes to buy, if thats what needs doing. I was told the JJ tesla Kt88 were good.
The only other thing I can think of is that I used the head on a different cab the other week at a gig and that cab was set to 8 ohms and my head is at 4ohms, would this be a problem?
Hope I don't sound too stupid, and I call myself a professional musician!
    Cheers
    Dylan

I would start with retubing the power tubes only. Doesn't that amp use 6550's in it. If so you'll have to rebias it to install KT-88's and that is saying that nothing is blown on it. A good tech would be in order for you if you don't really know what your doing as that amp is very finicky

      Hi
Cheers for that, yeah they are 6550's, i've ordered some now and our bands tour guitar tech knows how to fit these so hopefully that is the only problem.
      Thanks again
