  • Fender Amp Power On/Off Light Problem

The power on/off lamp on my Fender DeVille (4-10's) has been changing in intensity lately, from full bright (normal) all the way to completely dark. While playing through the amp, it will fade, get bright, fade, and finally go dark. If I flip the standby switch, it will return to its normal brightness. There does not seem to be a corresponding change in the sound amplification, but I may be wrong. Does this indicate a serious problem with the amp, or is it only a sign of the lamp needing replacement or bad wiring to the light? Any advice appreciated.

More likely than anything, the socket is making poor contact with the lamp.

Take the lamp out and clean the contact surface on the bulb to remove any corrosion. Use a Q-Tip slightly dampened with De-Oxit and clean the contact surface in the socket - With power removed

      That works for me.
I have a HR Deluxe that does it occasionally.
