  • Fender 30 - channel switch pops

This Fender 30 has a switch on front panel on reverb channel that is to turn the footpedal on or off. It has a very loud pop when switched. If the switch is left in the on position the footpedal works pretty well w/ minimal popping. Does this switch on the front panel pop due to design or can this be fixed... or both?

Looks to me like pin 2 of V1A has no ground reference during switching. Try tacking a 1 meg resistor from pin 2 to ground.

      Hi Enzo,
The 1meg does not seem to make any difference. Currently both V1A and V2A have 1meg to ground on grid... could it be cause both of them have it? What might be the next thing to look for?

The schematic doesn't show them there.

No, both having a grid return resistor will not make it pop. Lack of one would.

Enzo, there was one and I added the other per your suggestion. You're right they are not on the schem. Aside from that could something in the switching circuit cause this pop? Or the switch?
