    Thanks for the reply Helmholtz. According to the data sheet, the J111 is an N Channel JfET. The other J111 on the board behaves as an N channel when testing. This one behaves as N channel when diode CR23 is removed from the circuit. What's further behind that, I don't know.

      You need to test the Fets out of circuit.
      When you short the gate to either drain or source, the channel (drain-source) should conduct in both directions/polarities showing a resistance of maybe 50R.

        Thanks for the info. I'll remove them again later this week. I have had enough for today, ;-)
        I know that there was continuity on the drain and source on both JFETS, but I'm not sure under what conditions. I'm free from work on Wednesday. I'll probably try then.
