No, the owner is a very hands off guy. No one else used the amp, and I'm sure he doesn't feel at ease doing anything to his amps. This is at least partially why he is under the "keep everything original" spell. He just doesn't know any better. Very nice guy, though.

If the new one is rated at 100mA maybe a slow blow fuse added in the HV center tap circuit might off some protection against overload for whatever reason.
BTW I see the PT offered by Classictone for this amp appear to have different physical sizes so best check the one you have.Experience is something you get, just after you really needed it.
