Sorry, I should clarify, that's a schematic off the internet not something I drew, I'm guessing the functioning section is not wired like that (I literally cannot see well enough in all that mess to see how on earth its making connections.

Also, I didn't scope it for ripple / noise or load it to see if it caves, I just meant that the Simpson meter said it was putting out +/- 18VDC as I think it should based on the zeners (4746).

I apologize for not being clear.

    Thanks!

Yes, that drawing is wrong. It's at least missing a connection between the (circled) diode and the 820ohm in the LV minus side. Compare to schematic attached.

Fiberglass Pen.....I hadn't seen this before, but found it here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07M94Y12J...NsaWNrPXRydWU=

I bought the set, which bypassed the $10 shpg fee. Thanks for the tip!

G1--thank you--haha, I didn't even notice it was totally missing that leg-I was distracted by the diode-cap alignment. Looking at that schematic you posted, I think I can see why people might have the caps reversed. Reading the polarity on the caps is nigh on impossible. On the schematic chunk I posted, aren't the caps (or the diodes, I guess) in backwards?

Oh yeah. I missed those too. LV supply caps are wrong polarity shown (bias and HV caps seem correct).

Hello again fine folks of tMEF! After a brief forray into my real world responsibilties I'm back here at it--armed with a high quality solder station, and a head full of bad ideas ...I made this.

I'm fairly almost 42% sure that its at least partially right. All available schematics suck.
