  • Heathkit TA-17 Reverb Question

This is a 60’s oddball multitasking amp, very lo-fi vibe, like a cool Cake song guitar sound....but it’s making odd noises & I suspect the funky, dirty toggle switches & the reverb tank. It works but it’s dangling loose inside an enclosed aluminum enclosure where it just rattles around & whenever the amp is vibrated just a bit I can hear odd, errant sounds. It appears this was never screwed down (not even sure it’s supposed to be). Theres only some of the old disintegrated foam pieces left on a few of the edges. What held this tank to the chassis!?

Who knows? I have one with a loose tank myself. I'd get a reverb bag for it and just park it in there.
Education is what you're left with after you have forgotten what you have learned.

Here are 2 gut shots of the pan & the chassis.

I replaced the old foam strips & glued them to the chassis. Seems to hold very well. I’ve never seen tanks screwed onto a chassis directly so I’m assuming it’s not a good idea.

Did those speaker adapters come with it?
