  • Jack plate compatibility?

    I have a Hughes and Kettner Matrix 100 head plugged into a H&K cabinet and the input jack got jostled and bent it inside the jack plate so it doesn't work anymore. Can I purchase a new jack plate and replace it even if it isn't Hughes & Kettner brand? Is there a compatibility standard that I should look out for?

    It will be a proprietory brad; Neutrik, Switchcraft, Cliff etc. Take the old one out, take a look on RS.com or Farnell etc and find one that looks and measures the same.
    https://uk.rs-online.com/web/c/conne...964,4294431974 will give you an idea.
    Hope that helps.

      I am sure you can replace the jack itself. If the plate is bent, can't it be banged back straight?

        A picture would help.

          The socket looks like a Cliff type with a chrome front bezel. It will part from the front chassis by unscrewing the chrome nut whilst holding the rear that is inside of the chassis.
          It probably just needs resoldering or a simple PCB track repair if the track is broken. Click image for larger version

            I'm not even sure if the OP means the amp's input jack?

              It could be the amp input. When I read the OP, I got the impression the broken jack was on the speaker cabinet, but that was merely an assumption on my part.

                The head does not have a jack plate, so he must be referring to the cab.

                  If it is the back plate in a speaker cabinet, here are many;

                  Good time to fit Speakon connectors and bring it up to date.

                    Are Speakon jacks really needed?

                    Had a GK last week where the owner jammed a 1/4" cable into every speakon output jack!

                      Speakons are industry standard. They also make a difference with many higher powers bass rigs. We try to educate our customers ... bless em!

                        I think at 300 watts and up they are recommended for the higher voltages.

                        Hey it fits so its gotta be right.
