  • Bugera Trirec

I have a Bugera Trirec that has recently stopped working on the Valve and Valve/Diodes settings. The Silicon Diode setting is still working after I changed out a blown fuse. One of my power tubes lit up and the amp stopped working. I then replaced two fuses and the power tube and everything started back up again. Now when I switch to either the Valves or Valves/Diodes setting the amp cuts out and the standby switch light turns off. I can switch back to Silicon Diodes and the standby light will come back on and the amp works. My question is, what is the cause of the Rectifier section going out? I sent the question in to Bugera bit they will not give me any info. I searched for the schematics, but they really guard them well. Still looking. Hoping someone here has a clue as to what is going on. Thank you all for your time.

      Failed rectifier tube?

        That's also my thought.

Modern rectifier tubes are a relatively frequent failure item and the easiest thing to do is to change out the tube. Maybe the power tube failure stressed the tube and it subsequently died. Just a guess. Parts can fail for a wide variety of reasons and sometimes you never find out why something failed. Rectifier tubes aren't as rugged as they used to be. If it isn't the tube then you've at least eliminated that possibility.

Thank you all for the replies. I did change out the rectifier tubes and still nothing came on. Yes I also posted in the hopes of finding the schematic and they seem very well guarded. As far as the schematic links which is the similar one I can use? Or do I need to get a hold of the actual schematic? At least this way I can look to see what else I can test out.

          Thanks

I am registering on the site to view the “similar schematic”.

The next thing on my list would be to check the switch is actually working. Firstly you need to determine what type of switch is installed. It may assist if you post some pics if you're unsure.

Edit: after seeing the schematic, double-check F6 is OK and the rectifier heaters are working. Check there's HT on the rectifier output and make sure the connections to the switch are good.
