Roland JC 77 distortion won't turn fully off with Distortion pot fully CC, clicking switch off. If I insert a plug with alligator clips in the Dist footswitch jack I hear the distortion completely disappear, and can make it turn on and off by touching the clip leads.
So it seems to me to get the distortion turned on, the footswitch jack must be closed in order to ground one side of 50K VR1. With footswitch in closed position, and pot switch open I get about 1.5M ohms to ground, which seems right.
So how come the distortion is partially staying on? As I said, opening the ground at the footswitch jack turns it off fully. Customer suggests bypassing it completely, because he doesn't like it anyway, but I would like to understand this.
