Finally got these two power supplies out the door this morning. I hadn't yet tallied up the hours spent, but know it was a bunch. I do try to keep projects like that to a minimum, as the real time it takes is well outside the realm of getting normal shop rates. After tallying up the hours spent on all of the tasks associated with it, it was 74 hrs. That's the sort of blanket price I'd love to get in having my timing belt replaced on my 2001 Honda Accord LX! I think the price I charged for restoring the two power supplies was less than what shipping one of them both ways to the east coast for getting them repaired. Let alone two of them. Parts cost total was just under $200. I did, however, accept the job for a blanket price, that was yet to be given. Gotta keep those 'deals' down to a minimum, even though I love a challenge, and these certainly were. Just lifting the one off the floor yesterday back up to the bench was a serious challenge.

Fan noise is fine as is. The one Winn is using in his studio, the supply will be in the equipment room adjacent, so no issues with that. I suggested he plumb an air conditioning duct down to the intake of the supply if it tends to run hot. I'll see the studio at a later date, but, there will be more project work after this from him.
Logic is an organized way of going wrong with confidence

An excellent idea. I hope he takes you up on that suggestion.

This isn't the future I signed up for.
