  • Invader 60 1970's Head

I have an Invader 60 PA Head from the early to mid 70's that I have repaired and it sounds very close to a Marshall 50 watt from the same era but it has too much low end and not enough gain for my taste. Anyone have a schematic? If not I will have to draw one and post it here for suggestions on component values to change to achieve the sound I am looking for. It uses 3 12ax7 tubes for the preamp and a pair of EL34s for the output.
    Thanks

    Invader 60 amp

    Hi there,
I also have an Invader 60 which is currently very sick- although it isn't the valves. Since this happened I have been searching and asking, but I can't find any info on this specific amp on the Net.

Do you know who manufactured them, there are no stickers or plates left on the amp, I don't even know if it is British.
    Cheers
    Dolo

What is wrong with it? Maybe I can help my using mine for comparison. It is in good working order.
Is yours the PA model with 6 inputs?

        Invader 60

        Hi there, Unclebubba

Sorry about the delay in replying, but work gets in the way of life....

I do an occasional gig in a Shadows tribute band and use the Invader for bass guitar - being Shadows and smallish gigs its never used hard.

It is the one with 6 inputs and at a recent gig it just died - very little volume on any input. I tried it again when I got home and it now sounds like a poor heavy metal imitation with lots of distortion and hardly any volume.

Took all five valves to a specialist and all is definitely well with them, but he had no idea beyond that on the grounds there were many other things to go wrong.
I know this is a needle in a haystack, but any likely culprits?

I bought one in London in 2000, it has Marshall knobs, but I'm still unable to get any information on the net

Invader was an HH brand, normally used for their speakers, and later absorbed by Laney.
And in the 70's England was full of Marshall copycats, so it probably is a Marshall clone, maybe with minimal tweaks or none at all.

But do yor homework, at least post a couple pictures: overall, front and back panels, chassis insides, etc.
